“ THE WAVES WERE DEAD; THE TIDES WERE IN THEIR GRAVE, THE MOON, THEIR MISTRESS, HAD EXPIRED BEFORE; THE WINDS WERE WITHER'D IN THE STAGNANT AIR, AND THE CLOUDS PERISH'D; DARKNESS HAD NO NEED OF AID FROM THEM--SHE WAS THE UNIVERSE.”
Before Tom Riddle, and before the founders of Hogwarts even began to think up the school that would one day foster the minds of all witches and wizard in Britain, there were two wizards and one witch that were the most powerful magical creatures in the land. Like all stories, the witch was bent on power and believed that because they had the magic they should rule the world and unfortunately for her, her counterparts did not feel the same way. Believing that their sister had gone insane the two brothers killed her, banishing her from their world and into the darkness. What these brothers never expected was that their sister’s soul wouldn’t perish completely and instead would seethe in rage at the betrayal for hundreds of years, plotting her revenge on those that were descendants of her brothers. When the time was right, she would move. Darkness became her refuge.
After Voldemort fell, a calm fell on the magical world in Britain that had never been there before because Voldemort was gone and they had nothing else to worry about. The Potter family had three children; James, Albus, and Lily, all were normal kids. Well "normal" that is until at an early age the young Albus Potter began to have nightmares, or night terrors really, that would stay with him his entire life. From the time he was little, Albus always knew he was different and when he was sorted into Slytherin house he knew for sure. Despite his parents telling him you are what you make yourself, Albus couldn't help but think that the Sorting Hat knew something no one else did about a person's soul. By the time he was fourteen the nightmares that Albus suffered from had gotten so bad he hardly ever slept until one night during his fifth year he found himself in the library and stumbled upon a book that shouldn't have been there. And this book spoke to him, or at least he thought it did.
“I think you know what you are....You know there is a monster that lives in your soul...”
The darkness had found what she had been looking for in Albus. Full of long forgotten spells and potions that seemed too dangerous to be real, it was like an encyclopedia of every spell that had been banished from the magical world, spells that seemed to call to Albus. Albus changed after he found that book. He got mean and nasty, did things he never would have done before and while in the very back of his mind something told him he shouldn’t be doing what he was doing, he couldn’t make himself care. The witch that had become the darkness was infecting his soul like a gaping wound that refused to heal and the nightmares and voices began to consume Albus to the point he began to believe what he was seeing was reality driving him to the brink of insanity and pulling him back. Everything changed however on a long winter night in the middle of his sixth year when Albus attacked and raped his younger sister Lily. It was a shocking crime and what was more shocking Albus merely grinned and didn’t even attempt to deny what he had done to his younger sister.
Horrified at what their son had done Harry and Ginny Potter refused to defend their son at trial because of the lack of remorse he showed for his actions, instead watching over their young daughter while Albus was sent to Azkaban. In the two years that Albus was there he was comforted only by the darkness and when he was finally released, Albus vowed to bide his time until he could exact his own revenge on his family for having him locked up instead of giving him the help he so desired. His crime however was not long forgotten and then, along with his cousin Victoire, whom had come to admire her younger cousin, and with several friends from Slytherin house, Albus disappeared. For six years he let the darkness consume him, turning him into an object for her use and then finally Albus knew he was strong enough and he returned to London and his first act was to kill the man whom everyone had looked up to.
Harry didn’t fight back: he couldn’t kill his own son and Harry had hoped that somewhere in the back of his head, Albus would realize what he was doing and stop. That was the last thought that the great Harry Potter had before his son cursed him into oblivion. That’s when the world began to crumble for the magical community. Albus and his friends – or The Odium – as they called themselves, let the Potter family grieve for their father with Albus leering at his sister the entire time. After the state funeral was held, The Odium gave the Potter family one day to hide with the threat if they didn’t they would soon join Harry in the afterlife. Then when everyone thought that Albus had already done the unthinkable ,he continued to shock them by attacking the Ministry. Unlike his predecessor Voldemort, Albus had no interest in controlling the Ministry. He wanted, and needed to level it to the ground. With the Elder Wand now in his possession, his book of spells that had not left his side, it didn’t take long for Albus and his followers to make short work of the Ministry and those that worked there. No mercy was shown and many lives were lost. However, what Albus had really been after was the Room of Prophecies. He needed to destroy the prophecies, but while he had been delayed by his brother James and Scorpius Malfoy (the two new head Aurors and best friends) upstairs, Teddy Lupin – the head Unspeakable – had been having his people apparate prophecies in and out as quickly as they could and by the armful, taking them to a safe location which was now Malfoy Manor.
Once The Odium was done, the Ministry lay in ruins. Albus was furious that he hadn’t been able to destroy all the prophecies, and Teddy was now the leader of the Unspeakables with James and Scorpius as his seconds-in-command. The new war for the magical world was just beginning. The summer sun is high in the sky and the fate of Hogwarts is uncertain as witches and wizards everywhere fear for their lives at Albus and his flunkies hands and it’s becoming even more unsafe to venture out in the dark as shadows and the darkness seem to take over everything, infecting what it will becoming stronger every day.
